Travel Training and Tours

Our goal is to help riders increase their comfort utilizing public transportation to access our community! Training to ride Metro bus service and Metro Connect is available at no cost to individuals and groups. Trainings will be tailored to your needs and can include:

  • Accompanying you on the specific route you want to learn
  • A tour of the Kalamazoo Transportation Center
  • Explanation of different types of fares and programs
  • How to use Track My Bus and other trip planning tools
  • Teaching basic public transportation skills such as trip planning, transferring buses, safety tips, and bus rules
  • Assistance with applying for reduced fare if qualified (seniors age 62+ or individuals with disabilities)
  • How to use specialized equipment on Metro vehicles
  • Any additional information that will help your increase your comfort with our services and expand access to your community

Tours

Metro offers tours to educate the community about public transportation

Metro provides the opportunity for the community to visit our facilities to learn more about the important role of public transportation in Kalamazoo County.
Tours are available Monday through Friday from 8am – 4pm and can be customized to meet the needs of a group. A typical tour might include:

  • A tour of the facilities by Metro staff
  • A walk-through of the Kalamazoo Transportation Center
  • Boarding various transit vehicles
  • Learning the basics of riding public transportation
